The Center for Child Counseling won the first place $100,000 Impact Grant and the semi-finalists, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches, Inc. and Parent-Child Center each received a $24,000 Merit Grant. The three finalists were chosen from more than 44 applications that were received.

The $100,000 Impact Grant recipient- The Center for Child Counseling specializes in providing services for children and caregivers impacted by trauma, violence and abuse through quality counseling at local childcare centers and schools in high-risk neighborhoods. Their programs and expertise are grounded in scientifically-sound research about early brain development and the impact of adversity and trauma on young children.  In partnership with the School District, the grant money will go towards on-site therapists to two local schools in at -risk communities to provide co-located mental health services and training. Their unique model/program brings fresh new solution to an escalating issue. Rates of depression, violence and school shootings are on rising. This evidence-based program helps children succeed by equipping them with skills needed to self-regulate, encouraging autonomy and resilience.  They help teachers and caregivers by building skills to help students’ social-emotional growth, ensuring an environment where all are free to learn.  Their future vision is for this model to be replicated in schools across the district, state and nation.

“The grants committee was fortunate to have 44 incredible funding opportunities from which to choose,” said Beth Walton, Impact the Palm Beaches Co-Chair.   “Our extensive review process allows us to determine where our dollars will have the greatest impact for both the organization we fund and the people they serve.   It was difficult to narrow the field down to just three finalists, but we were inspired by the caliber of the final projects and believe that through them Impact the Palm Beaches will continue to be a catalyst for positive transformation across Palm Beach County for years to come.”
