Petros Restaurant Review – Wonderful Greek/California Cuisine

Century City Mall Petros Restaurant

The Century City Westfield Mall recently went through a multi-million dollar make over. This brought in some terrific new eateries including Petros Restaurant, offering fine Hellenic California Cuisine. A combination of the best ingredients from Greece and California are used. They import olive oil, feta, honey, oregano and wines from Greece. Combine that in the kitchen with freshest organic vegetables from their farms here in Los Olivos California.

They also offer excellent California wines as well. Quality, simplicity, healthy and tasty is their mantra in designing the menu. Here you will find a large comfortable indoor dining area accompanied by a nice outdoor patio as well.

We started the night off with a few selections from their specialty cocktails.

Delicious Specialty Cocktails

Summer Lovers and the Karpouai Kooler. One featured watermelon and vodka the other was Gin based, Both were refreshing and perfect start to our dinner. They offer a full bar besides their vast wine selections. The staff is terrific and helpful. So we began our meal by tapping our waitress for recommendations.

Petros Specialty Dip along with Grilled Octopus

From the appetizer portion of the menu we went with The Petros Restaurant Special Dip, a blend of Kafteri and Melfzanosalate served over grilled Ciabatta bread, which is a superb humus. Along with an order of Grilled Octopus served with boiled beets in an aged vinegar garlic. Both were very good. My fears of octopus is that it can be very chewy, but this was grilled to perfection and very tasty. The Shrimp Saganaki features sauteed shrimp in a homemade marinara sauce. I think here the grilled shrimp on skewers is a better way to go if your in the mood for shrimp. They offer many salads, some pastas and pizzas but we went straight to the main courses.

Chilean Sea Bass

The Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass here is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Served with rice and asparagus in a wonderful light cream sauce. I’m going to dream about that dish. From their signature entrees the Roast Chicken was also fantastic with its crisp flavorful skin and moist meat. This half chicken is stuffed with epirus feta and mixed herbs served with large cut roasted potatoes and sprinkled with lemon juice and oregano.

They offer many lamb dishes we enjoyed the Paidakia. Grilled Greek peasant style baby rack of lamb drizzled with homemade latholemono sauce, served with french fries.

The Greek lamb tacos sounded interesting as well. They also have nice selection of steak dishes, salmon, chicken and shrimp skewers, along with a super vegan platter. So there is something for everyone to enjoy. There is a nice large banquet table in the back area which closes into a private space, perfect for corporate meal or a large family gathering.

Banquet Room

Save room for dessert, the Bougatsa is the house favorite. Warm vanilla bean custard wrapped in phyllo baked and served with ice cream and powdered sugar and cinnamon. Simply delicious! The Loukouma is baby Greek donuts drizzled with Greek honey and home style vanilla ice cream. That’s just two of the eight fantastic desserts they feature.

Fantastic Desserts

So the next time your in the mood for some superb Greek/California Cuisine head on over to Petros Restaurant. They have five locations around California.
